About us
The Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors was established by an Act of the Kentucky General Assembly in 1938 to protect the public health, safety and welfare. This is accomplished through the licensing and regulation of individuals and firms deemed qualified to practice.
The Board of Licensure is currently using GovDelivery, a contractor of the General Government Cabinet of the Commonwealth for email notifications of the Board of Licensure Report and advanced notices for renewals.
The 2026 Individual Online Renewal System will open on April 1, 2026.. For those whose last names begin with letters L - Z, renew your license by June 30, 2026.
The Board is self-supporting and receives no general fund tax dollars.
Amendment Notice:
On April 10, 2026, the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors filed proposed regulation amendment(s), repealer(s), and/or new administrative regulation(s) with the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission (LRC):
• 201 KAR 18:150, Standards of Practice for Professional Land Surveyors.
All affected individuals, businesses, or other entities are requested to submit written comments that identify the anticipated effects of the proposed administrative regulation amendments.
• 201 KAR 18:150, Standards of Practice for Professional Land Surveyors. Amendment. The amendment will update this already existing administrative regulation to reflect changes in land surveying technology and methodology so as to update and modernize the administrative regulation. The amendment also makes minor grammatical corrections to enhance clarity of the regulation. Public comments shall be received through June 30, 2026. A public hearing is scheduled for June 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, at the Kentucky Engineering Center, 160 Democrat Drive Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.

On August 26, 2026, the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors filed a proposed regulation amendment(s), repealer(s), and/or new administrative regulation(s) with the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission (LRC):
• 201 KAR 18:025, Predetermination of whether conviction of a crime disqualifies an individual from initial licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor.
All affected individuals, businesses, or other entities are requested to submit written comments that identify the anticipated effects of the proposed administrative regulation amendments.
• 201 KAR 18:025, Replacement of license certificates and business entity permit certificates. New Administrative Regulation. This administrative regulation establishes a process by which an individual who has been convicted of a crime can obtain a determination regarding whether the conviction of a crime will disqualify the individual from licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor before pursuing any training or specialized education required for licensure. Public comments shall be received through November 30, 2026. A public hearing is scheduled for November 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, at the Kentucky Engineering Center, 160 Democrat Drive Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
